A new life for the home you love
FAQs
We focus on high-quality renovations, extensions, and custom carpentry, with a particular specialty in skillion-roof extensions and premium bathroom renovations.
A skillion roof (sometimes called a mono-pitch) is a roof design with a single flat surface that slopes in one direction. Unlike a traditional gable roof, which has two slopes that meet in the middle, a skillion roof creates a clean, modern look with sharper lines.
Because of their simplicity, skillion roofs are:
Ideal for creating light-filled spaces with highlight windows
Perfect for modern extensions that blend seamlessly with existing homes
Cost-effective compared to more complex roof designs
Excellent for solar panel installation thanks to their consistent slope
At Bearwood, we specialise in Skillion Roof Extensions because they’re versatile, contemporary, and a smart way to add space while enhancing the style of your home.
That’s why we offer 4 all-inclusive Design & Build Skillion Roof Extension packages, ranging in size and budget — giving you a clear, tailored pathway to create your ideal extension.

We offer both. At Bearwood, you can choose from our all-inclusive Design & Build packages — such as our popular Skillion Roof Extension packages, which provide a clear pathway with set inclusions, timelines, and budgets.
For clients wanting something unique, we also deliver fully custom builds and renovations, tailored to your specific design, lifestyle, and budget requirements.
This flexibility means you can select a ready-made package for convenience, or go custom for a truly bespoke project.

For smaller projects, our process is straightforward:
Consultation → Feasibility Review → Quotation → Contract → Build.
For larger or more complex renovations and extensions, we also offer Early Builder Involvement (EBI).
Engaging your builder early helps:
Assess your site properly
Flag potential challenges before they become costly
Keep designs buildable and practical
Align your project with your budget from the start
It doesn’t cost more to involve us early — but it can save you thousands in changes, delays and rework later. 👉 Learn more about Early Builder Involvement
Early Builder Involvement (EBI) is the process of engaging your builder at the very start of your project — before finalising designs or finishes. By involving us early, we can:
Assess your site properly
Flag potential challenges before they become costly
Work with your architect or designer to keep plans practical and buildable
Help shape a design that fits your budget from day one
It doesn’t cost more to do it this way, but it can save you thousands in redesigns, delays, and rework later.

This depends on the scope of works. We can help manage all required approvals with council. Reach out and let us know how we can help.
Yes — we offer both, depending on what best suits your project.
Fixed-Price Contract: You’ll receive a detailed scope of works and a single agreed price before construction begins. This option gives you certainty around cost and is ideal when the design and selections are well defined.
Cost-Plus Contract: This option is more flexible, with costs charged as they arise (labour, materials, subcontractors) plus an agreed builder’s margin. It’s often used for complex or evolving projects where scope may change, giving you more adaptability along the way.
At Bearwood, we’ll guide you through which contract type is most appropriate for your renovation or extension, ensuring you have full transparency and confidence in how your project is managed.
Not always — for smaller renovations you may stay in your home, but for larger extensions we’ll advise case-by-case. You and your families safety is our number one priority.
You’ll have access to our customised client communication platform, powered by Wunderbuild, which allows you to track your project in real time. We also provide:
Daily progress updates
Regular site meetings
Clear, consistent communication throughout the build
Live Timelines
This ensures you’re always informed and confident about how your project is progressing.
Timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of your project. As a guide:
Bathrooms generally take around 3–5 weeks
Home extensions can range from 3–11 months, depending on scope, design, permits, and site conditions
At Bearwood, we provide a tailored timeline with your quotation so you know what to expect before work begins. ⏱️🛠️
